June is Audiobook Month

Did you know June is Audiobook Month?

The library offers the latest bestsellers on Compact Disc. Browse our well-stocked collection of fiction and nonfiction titles. We have mysteries, romance, westerns, inspirational, and more. And we offer a wide variety of nonfiction topics such as self help, history, biographies, and learn a foreign language. You can even reserve your favorite authors online!

Many of us enjoy listening to books on compact disc and cassette tape, but did you know the library also offers downloadables? Through our web site, you can download Audiobooks and eBooks to most PC’s and other compatible devices. We are pleased to introduce the addition of MP3 Audiobooks to our collection. This new format can be used with the iPod®, iPhone™, the iPod Shuffle and virtually any MP3 player.

Akron Summit County Public Library also offers the Playaway at its branches as well as Children and Teen departments at Main Library. The Playaway is a device with a complete book already installed on it. You listen to the book with ear buds or headphones (which you provide). If you want to listen to the Playaway while driving, you can use an FM tuner with the Playaway. Your audiobook will play through your car’s speakers either by using an FM tuner with an older car, or if you have a newer car with a USB port, by using a USB cable to connect the Playaway.
